Santa Ynez Pet Hospital was built in 1983 by Dr. Bob “Doc” Dean, and has been a pillar of our cozy valley for over 40 years. Together, he and his wife, Joanne, have created a legacy of phenomenal patient care and a family oriented workplace. In early 2023, Doc and Joanne wanted to secure the future and core values of SYPH as a family-owned hospital, so they chose to sell the practice to a local veterinarian, father, and husband, Dr. Neshan Sarkisian.
With several decades of combined experience, Dr. Sarkisian, Dr. Parker, and Dr. Zekaria continue to cultivate their knowledge and expand the hospital’s scope and equipment so that we may handle even the most challenging cases.
Inside of our unique rammed-earth, sustainably-built facility, we offer cutting-edge equipment, highly experienced veterinarians, and a fun loving staff. We are a full service small animal hospital that welcomes all medical, surgical, dental, and emergency cases.
Laparoscopic Surgery
We are the only general practice in Santa Barbara County that offers Laparoscopic OVariEctomies (ie. “LOVE” Spays), as well as laparoscopic gastropexies and exploratory surgeries. Dr. Sarkisian holds special certifications of training in these minimally invasive surgerical techniques. These surgeries allow for minimal invasion of the abdomen with only a small camera and 1-2 instruments, allowing for quick outpatient procedures with a short and relatively painless recovery.
Stifle Surgery
ACL or CCL injuries are common in our active patients and are often accompanied by meniscal tears. Fortunately, our experienced doctors are trained in advanced orthopedic procedures designed to relieve pain and mechanical stress caused by damage to these internal structures of the knee.
